Global Health Equity
Born out of necessity to support ongoing academic partnerships focused on medical education and training for Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, the Global Anesthesia and Critical Care Learning Resource Center ("the LRC") began in May of 2020 in response to travel restrictions limiting in-person exchange programs. The LRC was created by faculty with in the Division of Global Health Equity within the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain medicine at Stanford University. This Division focuses on building equity in access to health locally, nationally, and globally. We believe vulnerable populations exist anywhere.
Innovation and Adaptation
Despite focusing on education and training for well over a decade, global recognition of the need for anesthesia and critical care capacity came into focus through the pandemic lens. With the long-term goal of supporting anesthesia and ICU training for peri-operative providers, the LRC pivoted to assist with immediate needs of providers facing the pandemic response. Healthcare requires a team approach and the LRC supports the education of nurses, students, technicians and physicians.
Partnership & Community
The creators of the LRC are committed to collaboration. Working with academic institutions, ministries of health, non-profit companies and professional societies - the LRC aims to serve the global community in concert with the work of others. The LRC strives to curate peer-reviewed and evidence-based materials from reliable sources. We direct leaners to global authorities such as the WHO, WFSA, and other professional societies whenever feasible. When content is created, our contributors always strive to provide up-to-date and accurate information.
The LRC pledges that content on this platform will continue to be free, open-access, and without influence of advertisers. We believe education should be free. The LRC is fully functional on computers, tablets, and smartphones. Downloadable materials for offline use are made available as feasible. Translation services are available for select learning elements.
